Being an Independent Publisher, Author, and Artist requires a diverse set of skills. Betsy A. Riley is trained and experienced in project management, technical & creative writing, graphic design, visual communication, and web technology (including topics such as proprietary extensions and security). All of these contribute to successful development of a publishing imprint.

: Fifteen years of experience planning conferences and trade show exhibitions (all aspects), promotional development, budget formation, strategic planning, marketing and public relations, media liaison, VIP guest logistics, and union supervision (truckers, electricians, etc.)Betsy's expertise as an Author and Artist come from a combination of formal education and life experience. Beginning in junior high school, Betsy was publishing essays and poetry, receiving awards for her artwork, and winning awards for public speaking. As the youngest student in the local University's Honors Art Workshops, she learned printmaking, etching, and batik to go with her existing skills at drawing and acrylic painting. She won a National Merit Scholarship, and was selected as one of two Presidential Scholars from Kentucky (getting a medal from President Richard M. Nixon). During college, Betsy sewed her own clothing, worked in bisque ceramics, and got an amateur (ham) radio license while getting a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science.
Betsy has given invited lectures about computer graphics across the U.S. and Europe. She has served as president of an international software users group, and on the board of a national organization. She has led a girl scout troup, and placed in national speaking competitions. She took on the world of dance, doing belly dance, clogging, country, line, and swing. She danced a twist solo on stage with Chubby Checker and won numerous first place awards in ballroom dancing. She designed and maintained numerous websites, and did a series of movie and restaurant reviews for the Knoxville TN web gateway while being an active member of the local chapter of Nashville Songwriters. She raised four step-children, and is on her fourth marriage.
